Anyways... Attribute balancing was done yesterday i think so now it's down to stat balancing.
This is going to be fun, i can tell!
So i fired up good old Apocalyptica (they never fail...) and grabbed a Monster from the refrigerator (yes i keep monsters in my refrigerator, i'm crazy!) too bad it's not Dr. Pepper, there was a time of my life when i lived on Dr. Pepper like many anime characters. (Kamisama no memochou for example)
The following is a semi-pseudo-code for the stats system. (This means i wrote it in a manner that resembles programming, but would never work out in any code because the symbols aren't consistent, etc.)

Max is based around the races i.e. faerie is 70Cm minimum and Garax is 240Cm maximum. Attribute max is assumed 100 (But they'll actually be unlimited via special items).
Allrighty, this started off well... now i just need to dig deeper and make sure the final numbers seem reasonable (that is results of the base value + modifiers applied is reasonable, and that certain attributes aren't overpowered or underpowered, i.e. no attribute is useless)

(These are the stats you can start out with + maximum stats, debuffs or detrimental effects caused from whatever sources are not included in calculations, i.e. the min value is not an "absolute" value and the max value is the max value if the player is naked and unbuffed with maxed stats.)

This all seems reasonable enough i think! It's enough to work with and it does seem to at least work out on paper!
Now i need to do some final balancing (i.e. what i said before about attributes)
Then i quite simply need to test it (i.e. code it into ren'py or some programming language of my choice and see if it's as consistent as it's supposed to be) i can never trust my own brain for something like this, like i said before maths was never my strongest point... BUT it is my computer processor's strongest point, and that thing was super expensive too! So i'll just ask it really nicely to confirm the system's functionality for me.
Next i'd have to make a similar system for the skills (i.e. apply modifiers to skills) and test that.
After that's done i think the next step would be to balance experience gains/speed at which the player gains levels (and this can only be done properly via testing)
Basically i'm already starting on making prototypes for a game planned at least a year from now, but probably more than just 1 year...
Oh i'm re-considering the studio name, i'm thinking maybe i should convert it to one of the deity names rather than the universe name, that way i wouldn't be locking the studio down to one univeres, i.e. i could make different games after project unchained is finished if i don't want to continue the series. I think project Unchained will be a pretty ageless game because of it's nature (visual novels are ageless apart from the program max resolution right?)
Cestarian Games... simple and sounds a lot better than Amodos Game Studios!

All right, this definitely does look good on paper. The inconsistencies between HP, Mana and Stamina are quite intentional, items and buffs that can boost your HP will be quite rare and extremely limited (i.e. you wont be getting 1000 extra HP out of some amulet unless it's super hard to get)
Whereas items that boost your mana and stamina will not be limited, nor even remotely rare.
I'm thinking maybe i'll set it up so that there will be no items that boost "HP" on it's own, rather items that boost the "Vitality" attribute. Meaning it would also boost some resistances and stamina as well and not just HP alone.
My hopes for sleeping later in the morning turned to nothing :( fuck my life i didn't even start getting tired again until 10AM! (I'll blame it on the monster =_=)
Now, it's time for attribute balancing! (Numbers are the total of skills & stats affected)

Note: Although not (yet) listed luck quite directly affects Hit & Crit chances
To Balance:
-Strength add to stamina (Vit * 2 to Vit + Str) [7]
-Free Carrying Capacity increases speed (Speed = Speed + (Capacity / 4)) [8]
-Strength add to AC (Str / 2) [9]
-Strength to boost Intimidation [10]
-Strength to boost Dominance [11]
-Agility to boost AC (Agi / 2)
This would balance things (i.e. Str, Dex, Agi: (11, 11, 11)) <- haha we know what happened that day ;)
Next is the Manipulation problem.. O
One thing i could do is add it as a modifier for all sex related skills...

Nice, this was what i was aiming for. Relatively simple stats system, complicated skill system and basic attribute system all tie together in a ridiculous knot like in all the other games :)
The Major skills are mostly there for reference, they have very little effect but they will boost (like a bonus) all of their sub skills with an added number that will probably be determined per skill.
I am by now satisfied with the size of the core leveling system (after that there are the minor skills, but minor skills are exactly that, "minor" they have no real effect on the players level and stuff they're just supposed to be extras.)
Even if it's only noon, i'll call it a day, i've done enough for today! i'll spend the rest of this day playing and watching stuff :D

I decided to hop into "Long Live the Queen" by Hanako Games, as is typical for them it seems to be heavily aimed at female audiences :/ The atmosphere is a bit darker than i think it should be and to be honest i'm hating the soundtrack, i quite love piano music, but they're using looping piano music, and not just any looping piano music either, no! but like 10-20 second long loops T_T I'll turn the music off before i start reaching for a knife!
So i'll replace that annoying looping piano music with some quality soundtrack that seems to fit decently... Lets see... I hated that stuff but i have to admit, Vampire Knight had a pretty decent soundtrack, so that's what i'll use. I think it fits the atmosphere in this game half decently too, it's a similar theme as the soundtrack in the game. Something else that might fit is the Dantalian no Shoka soundtrack
Oh god now i remember this piano song from some anime or visual novel but i can't for the life of me remember it's name! argh this is driving me nuts! i need to find it!! NO!! MY HEAD!!
Suffering... I wont rest until i find this song :( and youtube isn't helping, it's been fucked up for a while now, shame on them always changing their site + (insert rage about flash player here)

What a waste of my time but... in the name of sanity i had to!
But by this time i was too tired to play Long Live The Queen, i don't read well when i'm tired and since that game doesn't really have any voice acting to aid me... :/ but i'm thinking maybe tomorrow i'll work a bit with the attributes and try to finalize what i did today, then take another break like i did today. and finally on sunday i will make the code and see how the system works out.
But all is well that ends well! i got offered to see the Hobbit 2 premier :D so thats how my day shall end!
