Something that others usually would call heartwarming, but for me it's... uncomfortable, because i can't place in my head where i've heard these before, but these are usually really good song so i want to know "A: Where i heard it before" and "B: The story behind the song (if there is one, usually it can be found in the lyrics themselves)"
But this soundtrack is absolutely magnificent, i was truly amazed by it.
Oh, there are a few details to iron out in regards to my laptop after all.
1: System loading screen (Bootsplash)
3: Make openbox detect my Print Screen button (atm i can't use it with openbox' keybinds system, maybe a third party software can do this)
4: Is there a fourth?
I'm seeing some decent benefits of having conky
1: I can see how long i've been awake (since it urn on the laptop first thing in the morning then turn it off when i go to sleep,it's constantly on inbetween)
2: I can see the programs that are hogging too much resources for their own good.
3: i can monitor my CPU Temp, i know something is wrong if it goes above 60° (70 is high, i think 100 or 120 is critical)
4: i can monitor the HDD Temp, just for luls. If yo8u're wondering it usually sticks around human body temperature (38° or so)
5: I can see my network usage, and all inbound and outbound connections, like i said before if i see ANY inbound connection i know somethings up, meaning the laptop is slightly harder to hack than before.
What i did on my TS3 server host machine was that i used iptables (fireawall) to block any and all incoming and outgoing connections, except the one on the TS3 server, that port is occupied by the TS3 server so the only way to hack it is to hack the server :P (I couldn't even SSH it if i wanted to with this firewall)
As a nice bonus, it's locked so the only way to access the computer is to either know or brute-force the password. Extreme security for a server anybody who really wants to is allowed to access right? oh yeah and the channels are encrypted too :D
Of course, getting a bootsplash (plymouth) i run into problems first thing. Damnit all, it won't show up!
I gave up on it, i'm just gonna go with splashy next and if that fails, fbsplash... hrmpfh, splashy didn't even build, i'm counting on you gentoo!
It's an outdated package but what the heck.
...
Oh great, i can't install a dependency for it called miscsplashutils.... that's great, it really is outdated huh, i guess splashy is my only option...
Lets see, i failed to build the latest splashy...
Ok well, i'm skipping this troublesome part for now and jumping to grub, i couldn't find a theme or a splash image i was satisfied with, so i just made one *cough* (by make i mean copied the work of two artists into one image and saved it after a little bit of basic photoshopping *cough*)
Allright, you know what... Bootsplash can suck it's own ass and the print screen button can go rot in hell.
It must be about time to switch focus to my main PC. (Laptop was just a side project, i'm amazed it was a successful one too!)
But now i'm sleepy and i should go to sleep. What i want to do on windows is to run X and Explorer together (I.e. i get all the X Server and linux functionality + all the windows functionality in one package) i think i'll be able to do it. It sounds like it's possible if i go about it the right way.
