F.A.Q.

Why the early FAQ?

Because I needed to make sure I'd answer some questions before I actually release Yrja's Torment. Especially this next one, since Yrja's Torment has themes of severe child abuse, and I'd rather not people get a wrong impression that I actually enjoyed writing those parts of the story.

What do you think of Child Pornography?

It kills me on the inside every time I come across it on the internet. If I actually watch it, it does more than kill me a little on the inside, but rather feels like I'm (very literally) torturing myself. I absolutely hate it and wish it did not exist in reality. But that's reality, in fiction I don't mind it much at all, especially hentai. In all fiction the characters are not real, nothing really happened to anyone in this story and quite importantly when it comes to things like lolicon hentai, the characters don't even look real. Anything can work out well in hentai, even things that would be revolting in reality.

It would also be good to note that as I was writing Yrja's Torment, it really did disturb me. I had to take a lot of breaks from it simply because it's hard to stomach writing something like that, line for line and reading it over and over again to make sure it really delivers the narrative as i intended it to. It was downright painful to write this, which is why the last name of the game is "Torment".

So you like lolicon hentai?

I have nothing against it. I watch it on rare occasions.

Who is this "I" aren't you a company?

Amodos Game Studios is not an official company, at least not yet. Currently it consists of only one member who is "me". I will open up for donations later on and if that goes well then hopefully I can expand and turn Amodos Game Studios into a full blown company, and replace the whole "I" thing with "We" or "Us".

When that time comes, naturally i'll have a seperate blog for myself and for the company as a whole, which might be changing this to be for the company, or making a separate blog for the company and keep using this for myself, a decision to save for later.

How come you've got so many projects planned?

The original plan was to make one big project (Unchained) but the problem with that was that I am working with a game engine I've never used before. I decided after much of the project's Pre-Production that it would be best not to rush it, and so I decided to create several smaller projects (smaller being full blown visual novels) and adding at least one new minigame at a time to each of those projects in order to make it easier to create the contents of the main project.

Which version of the game is the "original"?

The original design & concept is always going to have "NSFW" in mind, the "SFW" versions are just censored versions of the NSFW ones, however  a significant amount of work is put in to make sure that the SFW versions are just as enjoyable as the NSFW ones. The only difference really is that there is a lot more of sex in the NSFW versions and it is not going to be censored, there will also be minigames for it. I see a lot of games get away with "text only" sex and not get an adult rating slapped on it (Analogue: A Hate Story has underage girl sex in it for example). So the SFW versions will not be completely devoid of sex, like i said, it will just be "censored" and it won't be a huge gameplay feature.

Why are you making these games?

My biggest goal is to make an honest attempt to bring adult gaming to the western game market. I think the world would be a better place if we had more of that.
Since the western market is clearly not ready to accept "porn games" i will avoid making those. Instead i'll be making games that will have (official) NSFW patches to them for the people who choose. I think that provides a nice middle ground and if i handle it right i might manage to release some titles on Steam, which would be a huge success.

I also like to believe (wrongly or not...) that the more cruel things we allow people to do virtually, the less of it people will do in the real world. I think many criminals probably wouldn't bother hurting real people if they could commit their vile acts in computer games instead.

But honestly? Just like any other independent game developer, i'm just making the games i want to play.

Inspirations

I didn't know where else to place this, so at least temporarily, i'll list them here, anything or anyone listed somehow inspired me to do the things i'm doing now, anything inside a () will mean that that particular "item" didn't inspire me directly (rather their work or it's author). You can expect to see a few elements from these "things" in my games. For example i really liked playing as a Malkavian (Insane Character) in VTMB, and the shop management systems of Recettear and Kamidori, so i'd like to recreate these things in my own way.

Fenoxo - Corruption of Champions
(Eushully) - Kamidori Alchemy Meister
(EasyGameStation) - Recettear
(Zyx) - Lightning Warrior Raidy
Nyaatrap - Dungeon Master Chris
Slave Maker 3 & Sim Brothel
Christine Love - Analogue: A Hate Story
(Sirtech) - Wizardry 8
Josh Parnell - (Limit Theory)
(Troika Games) - Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines
AliceSoft - Daibanchou Big Bang Age
Studio S (They make "very" hardcore hentai games, not for you if you can't stomach scat & gore!)

Others (Not Games)
Emilie Autumn - The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls
Kentaro Miura - Berserk
Boichi - Sun-Ken Rock
Norihiro Yagi - Claymore
Kouta Hirano - Hellsing
Hiromu Arakawa - Fullmetal Alchemist
Ankama - Wakfu (The TV series rather than the games)

As you can see, i've got a boatload of things that inspired me to make the games i'm working on, and to try my best in starting a new game company.
